Hey There:
Let me welcome you to my link. First off, a bit about me: I'm the keyboardist in this band (in case
you hadn't guessed!) I began
formal piano training at the ripe old age of 5,and then moved to clarinet, guitar, and a bit of violin.
I became fascinated with the
recording process early on, when I figured out that by using two portable cassette recorders, you could
actually overdub from one
to the next. Cool! It ballooned from there. With the help of a high school band mate, we were able to
run 2 Wollensak reel-to-reels
together, thereby creating a tape delay. By experimenting with various tape speeds, recorder distances,
beer and other
implements, we came up with some very interesting results. To this day, I still have those old recordings.
Maybe they'll find their
way into a Livesay project! (maybe not)
I have since turned this passion into a full blown home recording studio minus the drumkit. (Sorry,
Tim) I now use a combination
of hard disk recording, (a Fostex VF-16) the incredible SONAR XL, with a million plug-ins, and the equally
incredible Reason from
Propellerhead. My live rig is very simple: I use a Korg 01/W, and Z1, plugged into a Roland KB 500.
That's it! No muss, no fuss.
My latest toy is the Korg Triton Pro. I have yet to take it out live, only because it means so much
to me. You see, it's a wedding
gift from my lovely wife, Elyse. My overall sound is influenced by many groups, most notably the Beatles,
Dream Theater, Rush,
Symphony X, Kansas and Marillion.
Okay, I think I've said enough. I am an Aquarian at heart, and really don't say much about myself. I
am more interested in what
YOU have to say! As for the future, we will continue to compose Livesay tunes, and keep our fingers
crossed about recording
deals. I am also considering a CD of my own compositions, with a little help from my friends
Feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss Livesay, home studios, gear, or any other thoughts
you have!
